Privacy Statement
Motor City Co-op Credit Union is owned by its members and run by a board of directors elected by the members. We want you to know that the privacy and confidentiality of your personal information is a top priority. We are required by law to provide you with this notice in order to inform and explain to you how we collect, use and safeguard your personal financial information. Information We Collect About You
We collect information from your membership card and other applications for products and services. We obtain information such as but not limited to your name, address, social security number, employer, income and account information at other financial institutions.
From transactions with us and other companies we work with to provide you with products and services, we obtain information such as account balances, payment histories, parties to transactions and credit card usage.
From consumer reporting agencies we obtain information related to your creditworthiness.
Information We Share About You
We disclose information we collect about you under certain circumstances and as permitted or required by law. The disclosure of this information typically includes processing transactions on your behalf as you authorize, to provide you with a product or service, to conduct the operations of this credit union and to protect the security of our financial records.
In order to provide you with certain products and services we sometimes disclose your information to other organizations. In some cases we enter into agreements with third parties to provide these products and services to you on our behalf or to jointly market products and services. For example, as a benefit of membership we make insurance products available to you at discounted premiums. In order to do this, we provide information such as your name and address to the insurance company that offers its products to you . To protect your privacy, we only do business with companies that agree in writing to maintain strong confidentiality protections. We restrict these companies to using your information only for the reason we have given to them and for no other purpose.
In the event that you terminate your membership, we will not share any of your information we have collected about you, except as permitted or authorized by law.
How We Protect Your Information
Under no circumstances do we provide any information we collect about you to telemarketers or other third parties that do not act on your behalf as a member of this credit union. We also maintain the confidentiality of the personal financial information we obtain from users of our ATMs.
We restrict access to nonpublic personal information about you to only those employees who have a specific business purpose for accessing and utilizing this information. Our employees are trained in the importance of maintaining confidentiality and member privacy. We maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards as part of a comprehensive risk management system that complies with federal regulations to protect against anticipated threats or hazards to the security of your information and to protect against unauthorized access and use of that information.
If you discover inaccurate records related to any of your transactions with the credit union, or believe an unauthorized person has accessed your account or obtained an access number such as your ATM PIN, contact us immediately at 800-328-8051 so that we may take appropriate action.
Motor City Co-op Credit Union does not use "cookies". ( A cookie is a file placed on your hard drive by a Web site that allows it to monitor your visit, usually without your knowledge.) You can set your browser to warn you when placement of a cookie is requested and decide whether or not to accept it. When visiting this website, information about your browser type, operating system, IP address, and the domain from which you came are collected. Except for what you submit to us, we do not collect any personally identifiable information. Any personal identifiable information that you give us will only be used to respond to you and will not be retained. Any information that we do collect is only used in aggregate to determine whether improvements can be made in our service. The information is not permanently stored.

Security Policy
MotorCity Co-op Credit Union maintains security measures consistent with the requirements of federal and state regulations, including risk management systems designed to prevent unauthorized access, both internal and external, to member information.
MotorCity Co-op Credit Union has procedures in place to protect member information systems in the event of natural disasters, intentional destruction, or technical failure.
Motor City Co-op Credit Union management monitors employees with access to member account information to ensure they are in compliance with Motor City Credit Union's established security policies and procedures.
All member account information is stored on servers protected by a state-of-the-art multi-layer intrusion-prevention system including firewalls, anti-virus protection, and encryption, to prevent unauthorized access and/or damage to the servers and the information contained on them. These protections are monitored by the Credit Union and its business partners on a regular basis to identify and correct any potential security weaknesses.
Access to member accounts is restricted to members through the use of a sophisticated multi-factor authentication system, including ID numbers and passwords, keycodes, and visual keywords. Account passwords that are not entered correctly after the third, time will result in an automatic log-off to the session.
Motor City Co-op Credit Union has implemented an intrusion detection system to monitor activity and alert the credit union immediately in the event of a security breach. MotorCity Co-op Credit Union's oversight committee has been trained to handle such breaches in a timely and effective manner.Top |
